Bike Riders Beware -Trek Recalled Model 720 Disc Bicycles Due to Fall Hazard
Trek Bicycle Corp. has announced its third recall in less than two years. This time it is recalling its Model 720 bicycles sold in 2015, 2016, and 2017. It has also specifically recalled the wheels sold with those bikes, the Bontrager Approved TLR disc 700C 24H Front and Rear Wheels, because it has received reports that while being ridden, the spokes have broken and lodged in the brake caliper, causing the wheel to suddenly stop, throwing the rider to the ground. There have been more than 10 reported cases, with at least one involving serious injury. If you have one of the recalled bikes or wheels, you should stop using it immediately. You can return the bike or wheels to any Trek dealer for free inspection and repair or replacement. You can get full details at the Consumer Products Safety Commission website.
Trek and other bike manufacturers have recalled multiple other bike models over the years. The recalls were necessary because the bikes were sold with safety problems resulting from defective designs or defective manufacturing. As a result of these defects, riders were suddenly thrown from their bicycles while riding. Many of these bike riders developed devastating and life altering injuries. We have represented the victims of such crashes in product liability suits to secure them and their families the compensation they deserve. We have also represented bike riders who were injured as the result of car crashes and poor road or sidewalk design.
