CPSC Warns Against Firework Injuries
The CPSC conducted a survey on 2011 firework injuries. There finding included: 200 firework related injuries on average around the month of the July 4th holiday, illegal and homemade firework were responsible for the 4 firework related deaths reported to CPSC in 2011, and 65% of all firework related injuries occurred in the month of the July 4th holiday. CPSC wants to remind consumers to never let children play with or ignite fireworks, never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully, to keep a hose or bucket of water close in case of a mishap, make sure fireworks are legal in your area before using or purchasing them, and to light fireworks one at a time and then move back quickly.
